Wheezing, night cough, breathlessness with exertion — asthma is common, but it should not run your life. At Lung Care we confirm the diagnosis with lung function testing, fix inhaler technique, and give you a written action plan so flares stop catching you off guard.

Common questions

How do I know if I really have asthma?

A pulmonologist confirms asthma with a focused history, examination and lung function testing (spirometry with bronchodilator reversibility, and sometimes FeNO or a methacholine challenge). We do this in-house and explain the results the same visit.Asthma guide →

Will I be on inhalers forever?

Most adults need a low-dose preventer inhaler long term, but doses are stepped up or down based on control. A proper review every 3–6 months often lets us reduce treatment, not increase it.Asthma guide →

My asthma flares only in certain seasons — is that normal?

Yes. Coimbatore's pollen and pollution patterns can trigger seasonal flares. We tailor a written action plan so you know exactly what to do at the first sign of worsening.Asthma guide →

Is a nebuliser better than an inhaler?

No — a correctly used inhaler with a spacer delivers the same or better medicine with fewer side-effects. We coach inhaler technique at every visit.Asthma guide →

What if my breathing test is normal but I still have symptoms?

Asthma symptoms and airflow changes can come and go, so a normal test on one day does not always exclude asthma. Depending on your history, a clinician may repeat spirometry when you have symptoms, review a peak-flow diary or recommend additional testing. Other causes of cough or breathlessness also need consideration; do not increase inhalers without a review.

Could dust or fumes at work be causing my symptoms?

Symptoms that worsen during work and improve on weekends or holidays may suggest work-related asthma, though this pattern alone is not diagnostic. Tell your doctor about dust, chemicals, fumes and the timing of symptoms. A symptom and peak-flow diary may help assessment. Do not deliberately expose yourself to a suspected trigger to test the connection.

What should I bring to an asthma review?

Bring every inhaler and spacer you use, your medication list, previous spirometry results and any written action plan. Note night waking, activity limits, reliever use and recent steroid courses or emergency visits. This helps distinguish poor control from problems with technique, adherence or another condition, and supports a treatment plan suited to your daily routine.Asthma guide →
